Some projects need a campaign. Others need a designer who already knows the brand guidelines and can turn work around on a Thursday afternoon.

Maya, founder of Upaya
MayaFounder, Upaya

Hi, I'm Maya.

I started in advertising in Brazil and left in 2015 to work internationally. That is where I found my place: working for organisations, helping them change what people care about.

I run Upaya as a studio, with no layers between you and the work. I balance two things that do not usually sit in the same room: work made by hand and cutting-edge technology. What I don't do myself, I bring in partners for: film crews, developers, illustrators and photographers I have worked with for years, spread across the countries I work in. I keep track of all of it. Nothing goes out that I have not looked at closely.

Communication is what makes people pay attention, and what changes the things they care about. That is the work I keep choosing.
